January 30, 2010. Consul General Karen E. Johnson gave a keynote address on the U.S. energy and environment agenda to a group of over 50 German and American journalists and experts. All of them were alumni of transatlantic exchange programs who were participating in a three-city program called „Societies in Transition: Energy, Climate and Oceans – Impacts on the Global Economy." The journey to Berlin, Hamburg and Copenhagen from January 27 to February 3 was part of the activities offered by the Round Table USA, a network of more than 25 German and American organizations and institutions. In her remarks, CG Johnson underlined the U.S. commitment to global engagement as well as a leadership role in developing clean energy and in fighting climate change. She also highlighted the importance of personal contacts to promote mutual understanding and the vital transatlantic network of alumni that the German and U.S. government supported programs have helped to establish.
