getting ready... Wednesday's (1/27) Program....

I'm using the blog to get ready for the program and do a bit of research about who we will be meeting on the trip.    


We start on Wednesday with an introduction to topic of Study Tour,  Dr. Camilla Bausch, Ecologic Institute.  I actually visited the Ecologic Institute in Berlin and look forward to meeting Dr. Bausch.

Dr. Camilla Bausch is Head of Climate and Energy at the Ecologic Institute. She leads and works on a number of projects, for example: negotiations on the future UN climate regime post 2012, emissions trading, the improvement of the legal framework for the energy sector. Trained as a lawyer, she has a strong background in legal and institutional analysis, complemented by several years of experience working in interdisciplinary and international settings.


In 2008/2009 Camilla Bausch took a sabbatical to work for Congressman Ed Markey (D-MA) in the U.S. House of Representatives. There she worked on climate and energy policies, and contributed to the “Waxman-Markey-Bill” (American Clean Energy and Security Act), which passed the House of Representatives in June 2009.


That evening we have dinner at the BMW Foundation Keynote Speaker: Karsten D. Voigt, Former Member of the German Bundestag.  


It looks like Karsten Voigt now works as the Coordinator of German-American Cooperation in the Field of Intersocietal Relations, Cultural and Information Policy

The German Coordinator's official title is "Coordinator of German-American Cooperation in the Field of Intersocietal Relations, Cultural and Information Policy". Since February 1999 the position has been held by Karsten D. Voigt, former foreign-policy spokesman of the SPD parliamentary group in the German Bundestag. 

Bad Füssing- Thermal Spring Spas

The Round Table starts on Wednesday so we came down to Bad Füssing in Bavaria for the weekend to soak in thermal springs and relax.

Bad Füssing has three different thermal springs spas.

The Thermal I is right across the street from our apartment.

It's crazy to soak in hot water while it's freezing cold outside.

We are checking out Europa Thermal Spring tomorrow. It is a 1/2 km away from our apartment.

Round Table 2010/ Runder Tisch 2010

I leave for Berlin on Thursday. I'm digging up all my warm gear- hats, gloves, scarves and buying a pair of dansko clogs for the snow, rain and cold. I'm also looking for a magical purse that can fit my high heels/clogs for the transition from U-Bahn to business meeting. That's what I love about Berlin! It's a city that is very good at transitions and transit. I love watching the suits on their bikes commuting to and from work. Here's a link to the program:
